This documentary examines the traditional cultural preference in the Muslim-led state of Azerbaijan for male children that stems from deeply ingrained beliefs and practices about male dominance and female subordination.
WLP’s partners in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Shymkent Women’s Resource Center (SWRC) and Bir Duino, are key to empowering Central Asian women to be peaceful and inclusive leaders. From March 22 to 25, 2018, they convened a Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop in Borjomi, Georgia for leading human rights activists.
Women’s rights experts from 11 Central Asian countries convened in Kazakhstan for a regional Training of Trainers hosted by WLP in February 2016. The participants discussed themes of leadership, democracy building, gender-based violence, and human rights advocacy.
