Support WLP's Project for Women's Education in Afghanistan

For the vast majority of Afghan women without access to broadband internet, in-person university-level instruction is critical.

WLP is supporting women and girls’ education in Afghanistan through online training and keeping on-site education safe and accessible for women. We ask that you consider supporting WLP's project to protect women’s access to education in Afghanistan. Your donation will support one of the private universities in Kabul that is continuing to educate girls and boys for a non-violent and better future for Afghanistan. For security purposes, we are not naming this institution. So far this university has been successful in keeping their doors open, with nearly 300 young women (and over 400 young men) currently enrolled. The cost per student is approximately $140 a semester, or $280 per year.

This International Day of the Girl, WLP had the honor of speaking with Zala Ahmad, advisor to WLP's Cross Border Coalitions Initiative and co-founder of Safe Path Prosperity (SPP), an incredible organization dedicated to empowering Afghan women and girls through menstrual health education and access to essential products. Operated by Afghan women, SPP produces Safepad, a locally-made reusable sanitary product, in production centers located in Kabul and Kandahar. The organization is dedicated to creating pathways to employment, prosperity, and dignity for Afghan women and girls through various initiatives, including employment opportunities, mental health support, and educational awareness programs. To date, SPP has generated over 100 jobs and distributed more than 250,000 hygiene kits to women and girls across Afghanistan.
