Begum (Malaysia) is the Director of Legal, Corporate & Government Affairs for ASEAN and New Markets since 2010. In this role she oversees corporate affairs, government relations and philanthropy for Microsoft businesses in the ASEAN region. Jasmine’s current focus is on AI and women’s development, and ethical AI, and she has expertise in the emergent area of technology and gender justice. Prior to joining Microsoft, Dr. Begum worked at the United Nations’ Development Program, and as a gender advisor for the United Nations’ Executive Office of the Secretary-General in New York. Dr. Begum completed a double degree in Law at the International Islamic University in Kuala Lumpur. She then pursued post-graduate studies in both Law and Communications in the UK and earned her PhD in business and human rights.
