Description

Throughout history, the unequal status of women in the family has been remarkably similar in countries all over the world. Relationships between men and women and boys and girls have been hierarchical and segmented by gender roles. The unequal status of women and men in the home, in particular, has modeled and sustained inequality in society at large.

To really address the underpinnings of gender inequality, therefore, we have to begin  in the family.

On December 10, to mark International Human Rights Day, WLP will screen the documentary Equality: It’s All in the FamilyThe film examines the root causes of discriminatory laws and highlights the pathways feminist activists are taking toward legal reform. The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion with four experts in family law and feminist advocacy to discuss these issues and highlight effective strategies for change.
