Women’s Learning Partnership convened a Global Training of Trainers on October 5, 2016, following its 16th annual Transnational Partners Convening (TPC) in Bethesda, Maryland. The workshop focused on the development of curriculum for WLP’s new initiatives on women refugees and family law reform.

Training of Trainers workshops are a core programmatic area of WLP’s work. Activists are brought together to develop facilitation plans and techniques that can then be used to moderate future trainings on women’s rights. This cascading structure of knowledge dissemination allows for WLP’s messages of empowerment and leadership to be spread more widely.
For this Global Training of Trainers, representatives from WLP’s global training team and partner organizations in Brazil, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkey, and Zimbabwe were present to collaborate on building the new curriculum.
Using a number of WLP’s training manuals, participants identified appropriate workshop sessions for refugee women and family law activists. They also engaged in discussions on the challenges to women’s participatory leadership and the role of compassion in the framework for women’s rights.
