Partner-led National and Regional Networks“Collectif 95’s first three years were marked by rare intensity: decisions were always consensus-based and made after hours of passionate and sometimes exasperating, but never fruitless, debate. In the heat of the moment, the members never lost sight of the actual stated objective, which was to establish activism based on an exacting knowledge of the socio-economic and political realities of our countries.” - Rabéa Naciri, Founding Member, Collectif 95 Maghreb-Egalité Many of WLP’s partner organizations play a leading role in regional social justice networks in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, working together to carry out research, run campaigns, deliver training, and build the capacity of local and national organizations. WLP’s Regional Institutes for Women’s Leadership and Training of Trainers are designed to support partners’ regional networking activities. Our partners are highly active in the following networks, among others: ANARUZ (National Network of Legal Centers Listening to Women Victims of Violence), Morocco
ANARUZ is a national network of legal centers which provide legal services to women victims of violence, gather data about the problem of violence against women in Morocco, raise awareness of violence against women, and advocate for policy and legal reforms to protect women and reduce violence. Collectif 95 Maghreb-Egalité (Collectif 95), Maghreb region
Collectif 95 is a network of women’s associations and researchers from three Maghreb countries (Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia). Collectif 95 carries out research on the condition of women in the Maghreb, and prepares policy recommendations and model laws. Collectif 95 played an instrumental role in organizing popular support for the reform of the Moudawana, or family code, in Morocco. Joint Action Group on Violence Against Women (JAG), MalyasiaJAG was established in 1985 when several women's organizations came together to organize an event on violence against women for International Women's Day. The six groups that make up JAG today include WLP's Malaysia partner Women's Development Collective, the All Women's Action Society, Sisters in Islam, Women's Centre for Change, the Malaysia Trades Union Congress, and Women's Aid Organization. JAG carries out advocacy on domestic violence, sexual harrassment, rape, worker discrimination, and Islamic family law. Machreq/Maghreb Regional Gender Linking Project (MACMAG GLIP), Middle East and Maghreb regions
MacMag GLIP is primarily a forum for debate, learning and exchange on women, gender and development issues for interested groups in the Middle East and Maghreb region. MACMAG GLIP has built a strong foundation of networks through working with NGOs and gender groups across the region. With experience and expertise in gender training, gender mainstreaming, regional exchange and networking, MACMAG GLIP is a focal point for access to gender information in the region. Union of Northwest Human Rights Organisations (UNOWHURO), Cameroon
UNOWHURO is a network of human rights NGOs and associations in the Northwest province of Cameroon. Founded with the goal of fostering the culture of human rights in the province and the nation at large, it is the only network of its kind in the country. UNOWHURO's members believe that networking our various organisations will help protect human rights in a practical way. |
