Citizenship Campaign's regional coordinators plan activities like seminars, workshops, training sessions, etc., in their regions in partnership with other non governmental organizations. These events and activities spread awareness, mobilize diverse groups of people, and advocate for change.

The International Campaign launched on Sep 6, 2006 with a panel discussion on Women as Equal Citizens: Advocating for Change in Muslim-Majority Societies. Launch event materials, including photos, presentations, and audio are available.

Our Lebanese colleagues have informed us that following a brief suspension of campaign activities as a result of the July-August conflict in the region, they have re-launched their citizenship campaign.

A Step Forward in the Bahrain Campaign

Good news came down the wires today - The King of Bahrain has granted citizenship to over 372 children who have Bahraini mothers and non-Bahraini fathers… BWS is planning to send a telex to the King tomorrow thanking him for this move. In the meantime, they are also requesting the King to solve the problem at the root.

Over 3000 Signatures On Lebanon Petition

Over 2464 students from different Lebanese universities and campuses signed the petition during the campaign’s activities between March - May 2006.

In addition, the regional seminars held in five areas in Lebanon during June – July 2006 (Tripoli, Mount Lebanon, Baalbak, Beirut, and Khyam) gathered the support of over 500 signatures from MPs, CSO and NGOs activists, women concerned.

There are OVER 3000 signatures for the petition in Lebanon right now!

CRTD-A Collects Over 450 Signatures in Two Days

The President of the Women’s Rights Club, Rania Jaber, opened the event with the announcement that the campaign had collected over 450 signatures. The event included two days of campaign-related activities in which attendees had an opportunity to read over educational materials about nationality rights as well as listen to a panel discussing the legal opportunities for women and their families.
