Claiming Equal Citizenship

The Campaign for Arab Women’s Right to Nationality

Val Moghadam Endorses Campaign

Despite all that has been accomplished to advance women’s human rights, far too many laws and policies reflect the stubborn persistence of gender injustice. One such law prevents Arab and Iranian women from conferring nationality on their children or foreign-born husbands. This is a denial of women’s political rights of citizenship — which is why I support the WLP’s campaign.

Women’s Rights Need Promotion and Protection

The Cameroonian civil society, especially the Cameroonian Association of Female Jurists, and other feminist organisations, appeals for the non violation of the rights of women. They should be given equal opportunities like other women in the world. They are human beings and their rights as human rights need promotion and protection.
