In our international campaign launch podcast series, here is the second podcast from the panel discussion on “Women as Equal Citizens: Advocating for Change in Muslim-Majority Societies.”.Lina Abou-Habib (CRTD.A, Lebanon)

This podcast features Lina Abou-Habib, the Executive Director of Collective for Research and Training on Development - Action (CRTD-A) in Lebanon.

In her presentation, Lina remarks on the difficulty activists have had to face as they attempt to continue their work admist the eruption of violence in the region. Women’s rights activists are fighting the uphill battle of trying to shift public attention to the goals of citizenship at a time when the media is focused on the violence in Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon.

Lina is also the regional coordinator for the six-country campaign called “Arab Women’s Right to Nationality.” In this podcast, she discusses campaign-related activities from Bahrain, Egypt, and Lebanon and details how each country campaign started at the same place, but faced different challenges, and have differing success stories to tell.
