Centre d’Informatique et de Documentation sur les Droits de l’Enfant et de las Femme (CIDDEF) is coordinating the campaign. The nationality law was reformed in March 2005, allowing Algerian women married to non-nationals to confer nationality to both spouses and children. CIDDEF and regional partners are monitoring the implementation of the reform.

Hope for Women Married to Expats

Statistics show there are about 1,782 children of Bahraini women who are regarded as foreigners in Bahrain, she said. “These children don’t get such rights like education, health care and ownership of land. “In order to make sure they are given what they deserve, we need the support from the country’s societies to stand together in this campaign,” said Dr. Wajeeha Al Baharna, President of Bahrain Women’s Society.

Strength in Numbers: MP Moukheiber Signs Petition

The Lebanese Campaign Team has organized regional seminars and workshops through universities and amongst civil society to raise awareness, disseminate information and garner support for the Nationality campaign from all members of the community.
