In May 2006, Bahrain Women’s Society organized an event to bring together women and children affected by the nationality law to share their experiences and to support and strengthen one another. Friends and family joined in to demonstrate their solidarity.Children drew pictures to express their feelings and experiences of what it means to them not to have the nationality of the country where they live.

One little girl said, “I want a passport. I feel like if I had a passport then many of my problems would go away.”

Another girl drew tears flowing down her cheeks to communicate the intense sadness she feels because she is living in Bahrain without a nationality.
