In June, Women's Learning Partnership (WLP) partners gathered at the beautiful Mediterranean seaside resort of Antalya, Turkey for our annual transnational partners meeting. The thirty-five grassroots women's rights activists from fifteen countries met to discuss how to strengthen the international women's movement by building the capacity of women's NGOs, how to increase opportunities for women's political leadership, and how to counter the "clash of civilizations" paradigm by building cultures of dialogue and tolerance.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, WLP premiered a new 25-minute documentary "Against All Odds: Women Partnering for Change in a Time of Crisis," which showcases the perspectives of activists from around the world including Afghanistan, Brazil, Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, and Uzbekistan.


WLP’s events bring together women’s rights activists, scholars, and influential women leaders from around the world to discuss major challenges facing women and girls in the Global South. They provide a platform for discussion and sharing of grassroots, national, and regional strategies on topics such as women’s political participation, culture and religion, movement building, and peace and conflict resolution.

The new technology tools were extremely popular because they offer small, resource-strapped organizations the means to advocate for women's rights. One participant is now using her new skills to promote her women's cooperative products online. CRTD-A Information Technology (IT) co-coordinator, Lina Aboulhassan, has already started a blog to raise awareness of CRTD-A's latest activities at www.new-crtda.blogspot.com.

The eCourse focuses on five themes from WLP’s seminal work, Leading to Choices: A Leadership Training Handbook for Women: developing participatory and personal leadership skills; communicating persuasively; creating a shared vision; and mobilizing resources. Over the ten-week period, participants will complete reading and writing assignments and participate in online discussions and group activities.
