The most issue in Indonesia about the women’s lives about the women’s trafficking this issue not due to just women lives but this related with human rights, i dont know what and why this can be happen in Indonesia, and that i cant to accept this Indonesia got 3th grade in Women Trafficking. I know this is the generally rumor, but i want to try look from other paradigm. As we know, the most factor that influence the womens trafficking is economical factor. But now i want to look from environment paradigm that where the women was live.
Maybe that not only economical factor, many people in Indonesia dont know about the trafficking, and many of people i ask “Do you know what is trafficking?” , many of people said “i dont know”. That the problem, this problem was very dangerous. How we can avoid something but we dont know what is that. This question i ask to urban people live in the big city. But, how in the side of the city, how they will know, beside of that, people live in big city dont know that. What about the people in the side of the city, have they know? The point is the socialization in the people environment.
Many factor can be affected by trafficking especially women trafficking, now we focus on environment. Women who lives in village dont know about human trafficking, but i know she is rich , her father is the leader of that village and her mother is a teacher. One day, some people come to her house and asking and recruiting to join working in other countries. And then , she requested time to her parent. And they accept that and promise to back in 2 days. She is begging to his parent, but two of us accept that . That mean two of us had accepted the human trafficking? i answer NO, why? Two of us dont know what his daughter want. She say to them (his parent), to just work in other cities , and didnt asking his parent to go to outside country in the other words “She is lying”. But she dont know she is one of trafficking victims, next days the people come again. And the people meet her parent and she is ready to going up with her bag and some of luggage. And she had given money up to 4 juta rupiah (equal $421) , and she is going with the people go to big city . And she is transfered with other trafficking victims to other country.
One years past, and she didnt give information to her parent in country. The parent just got information from the agent that agent said : “She is well”. But, the reality, she is sold. One day, the parent very worried about her condition. And they called the agent via phone. But now, they cant contact with the agent. So, they are worry about her safety. And they called the police, and the police said : “We will investigate this”.
Five years past, since they cant contact with the agent. They very worried, and trying to asking people where they can find her. And, one day they got information, she is die. Because she is jumping from fifth floor of the apartement. The reality is, she is going to outside country and working as sleve, after that she is married and have a conflict with his husband and she choice to die with suicide.
The story is the scene, why trafficking in Indonesia not only affected by economical side but, environment too. The fact is some of people want to try to going outside country but dont know that the victim of trafficking. And for example that ladies. She must to ending his life with suicide. Other factor is the socialization we must sure that the information had distribute to the people who live in the side of city. Because many of trafficking agent that operation in Indonesia have a target the people who live in side of the city, especially the women and we can called her ‘mojang desa’. In that story, we know that her parent have a good job. But, how the daughter doing, she is victims of himself.
So , i have some suggest that i hope can reduce trafficking in Indonesia.
- Socialization to side of the city about what the trafficking is it.
- The law must be established especially , Human Trafficking law, and Human Rights Law.
- Law enforcement must be proactive about human trafficking.
- The minister of Indonesia in the other country must be sensitive about his people who working and staying in other countries.
- Migration and passport registration must be more responsive to the people who suspect to be trafficking victims. Because as we know that cannot be go to outside country without that, but some of trafficking agent didnt use passport because of that the trafficking victim can be problem with that and have antoher law problem that is “Illegal Comer”.
- Make sure not just socialization that government can doing, but action to caught all of the trafficking agent.
I think just this i can to say about my essay, and i hope all of the judge who choice the best essay will doing the best and hope the best is the winner. I just want to say thank you to CEDAW who doint this program. I hope this essay event can motivate young people the way to care about the issue in his country.

I like the concrete solutions offered by the author. Human trafficking is such a tragedy and yet so widespread. A solution really does require such a comprehensive approach.

I impressed to the way author describe the chronological scenes of women trafficking in Indonesia. The description really represent other side reality that many trafficking tragedies occured not driven by poverty as most people assume so. As long there are irresponsible people who get benefit from innocent and naif of most villagers, there will be a high potential of women trafficking. One solution I would like to emphasized as author proposed as well is law enforcement. There should be a maximum punishment to whom proven by court as human trader.

I think you have a strong point on the root cause of human (especially woman) trafficking problem in Indonesia. Your suggestion that we should see it from the environment paradigm is quite interesting. More of these, the suggestions you made to reduce the trafficking should’ve been heard by Ministers (and to whom it may concerns) in Indonesian New Cabinet/Government. Good luck for you Achmad, let’s fight for a better Indonesia and a better World, too!

The choice of topic is the first that I want to stand for applause. For a teenage, the author has shown his interest in trying to see the big picture of fundamental problems faced by our country. If he could do more research, he would be able to explore more about this issue. I wish the author could develop his interest on this issue when he grows up and becomes one of Indonesian intellectual to support many programs in counter-trafficking! Best of luck! ;)

To Ben : Yes, i am very interesting with this issue, because as i know , many of Trafficking tragedy was happen in Side of The City . And we must to stopping this Trafficking Tragedy with socialization to other people , especially to side of the city. Because of that , the Law in Indonesia must be stronger to catch up the Agent of Trafficking.
To Robert Djanuar : As i know this Trafficking issue not have much concern from government of Indonesia . Because many of victim of Trafficking was getting outside of Country (going to another Country) . And the Law of Indonesia cant to follow that victims and this a big problem , may this new Government must do !
To Risa Amrikasari : I am so interesting with this topic , because this Trafficking is the big problem faced up by our Country but not have a place in ‘Agenda’ of New Government .. I hope i can spread my spirit to counter all of Trafficking activities. Wish me !

Yes as we know this is one of big problem in Indonesia, you definetely got a clear point about that and understand how to overcome it.
February 22nd, 2010 at 10:53 am
I agree with all of the points you already stressed out. I think from my personal believe we as law country should be ashamed of not being able to protect our own people. This is not because of the law it self, i think the law is there already to protect people but it is more on the moral obligation of the law enforcement and the society to create awareness of the trafficking it self. As “Law is meant to be broken” no matter how good the law is you know people can always find ways to get away from it. So, i just want to stress the point of moral obligation that we all should shared among us. We may start from our small family, to our neighbour and to our country.
in short, i enjoy this short article, i hope this could be a good way to inspire the others to channel all the opinions through creative channel like this.

Hi Zulfi,
It’s true that woman trafficking is one of big problem in our country, as mentioned solution that you state i agree with it.
We can help as our capacity, suppose If we are student at college we can help to decrease woman trafficking with study hard n graduate with good IPK in order to we can have chance to be present at government(DPR i mean) and can make rule that you mentioned above.
March 1st, 2010 at 3:39 am
Thanks for the suggest Ahmad Rizal , yes i agree with you . But, i think to get high IPK not a solution to get interest from Government ( DPR ) .
In this capability , we must make a move to get solution about this problem , with communication with LSM , Ministry of Outside Country (Departemen Luar Negeri ) , Ministry of Law and Civil Right ( Departemen Hukum dan HAM ) , and many instituion have related with this problem.
I hope this will be heard by the Government of Indonesia .

Assalamu’alaikum Achmad…
As a woman, I am very interesting with this issue.
As a moslem woman, I hope the leaders of the country can protect its citizens(especially women) as exemplified by the Prophet had Muhammad when he became the leader of Muslims. He was a leader who is to glorify and protect women. This is evidenced when he sent troops only to protect a woman who was harassed by a man who was not responsible.
I agree with the solution you offer. The government must act more forcefully to protect its citizens, especially women. But it must start from ourselves to keep ourselves. From each AaGym formula that everything must start from oneself, from the smallest, and since current.Thanx:)

most instances of forced labor occur as unscrupulous employers take advantage of gaps in law enforcement to exploit vulnerable workers.
these workers are made more vulnerable to forced labor practices because of unemployment, corruption, political conflict and cultural acceptance of the practice.
immigrants are particularly vulnerable too but individuals are also often forced into labor in their own countries.
then the law must be established especially , Human Trafficking law, and Human Rights Law

Thanks for all your comment on my Article ..
I hope we can spread this spirit to each other , and especially will be heard by Government that related to take a action in TRAFFICKING PROBLEM !
Cheers,

I agree with you force, I want to add a bit of socialization to the community especially in rural areas. More government should empower more female institutions in the countryside, because of the female institutions administrators can teach a variety of skills such as making crafts, making snacks, or anything that can be used as employment for the residents not to go abroad to get the field job.
March 4th, 2010 at 9:44 am
Yeah Astuti , but this Trafficking problem come from Socialization in countryside . Because of that , many Trafficking victims came from country side.
Yes i think , women in countryside not JUST do that like making crafts , snacks or anything. But, the Government especially in Women Departement must to teach the women some skill to survive in Globalization era.
Because many of children who live in countryside, make a change to work in other country . But, that step is MISTAKE and Government must open work in countryside more wide.
