The Swahili edition of the Leading to Choices manual (Uongozi Bora: Kitabu Cha Mafunzo Ya Uongozi Kwa Wanawake) has been used by WLP and our partner organization the Women's Self Promotion Movement (WSPM) in leadership training workshops conducted with refugee women and girls (living in Zimbabwe) from such countries as Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda, as well as in workshops held in Tanzania. Working collaboratively in the Leading to Choices workshop setting, diverse groups of women are recognizing their leadership capabilities and empowering themselves to improve their quality of life; enhance their social, economic, and political status; and address conflict resolution and peace-building in their countries. The wide variety of programs initiated by workshops participants include income-generation projects, an adult literacy center, and an intra-refugee camp conflict resolution committee.
