Zenebeworke Tadesse, a leading scholar and activist, is a development specialist from Ethiopia. She is a founding member of the Association of African Women for Research and Development. She is former deputy director of the Council for the Development of Social Sciences in Africa, and serves as a member and editor of the Management Committee of the Forum for Social Studies in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She is also a member of the Board of the African Gender Institute located at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and is presently a visiting lecturer at the University. Ms. Tadesse has worked extensively on issues of gender and social policy with several United Nations agencies as well as with development groups and non-governmental organizations throughout Africa.
