Latest NewsLeading to Choices Leadership Curriculum Now Available on CD-ROM
New: Assamese and Swahili Editions of WLP’s Leadership HandbookWLP recently published the Assamese and Swahili editions of the prototype leadership handbook Leading to Choices: A Leadership Training Handbook for Women. WLP’s partner in India, the Centre for Organization Research & Education (CORE), facilitated the adaptation and publication of the Assamese edition of the handbook. The handbook, which will be used primarily in northeastern India to train women living in conflict situations in peace building. WLP’s Zimbabwean partner, the Women’s Self-Promotion Movement (WSPM) is using the Swahili edition of the handbook to conduct leadership training workshops with refugees living in Zimbabwe. Iraqi and Palestinian Women Take on Key Leadership RolesTwo members of WLP’s network made international headlines recently for their appointment to new leadership positions. Zahira Kamal, a member of WLP’s International Advisory Council, was appointed Minister of Women’s Affairs in Palestine. Ms. Kamal previously served as Coordinator of the Women’s Affairs Technical Committee, WLP’s partner organization in Palestine. Also in the news, Rend Rahim Francke was appointed Iraq’s Ambassador to the United States by the Iraqi Governing Council in December 2003. Ms. Francke is a founding member of the Iraq Foundation and has served as Executive Director since 1991. WLP congratulates these courageous women and supports their efforts to help build egalitarian and democratic societies. ( categories:
